Punchestown Celebrate 175th Anniversary Raising Funds for Charity with Historic Prints

To celebrate its 175th anniversary this year, Punchestown racecourse has unveiled a limited edition print collection of historic John Sturgess paintings depicting the famous 1872 Conyngham Cup race. A limited number of sets will be sold with proceeds going to Kildare charities, and Punchestown neighbours, Barretstown and Tiglin.

The original paintings were rediscovered in New York in recent years and are now proudly displayed on-site at Punchestown. John Sturgess is a renowned 19th-century artist celebrated for his exceptional detail and ability to capture the atmosphere of great racing occasions. Using the Giclée fine art printing process, the reproductions reflect the vibrancy and precision of the originals, delivering museum-grade quality.

A complete set contains four prints; The Start, The Double, The Stone Wall and The Finish. Only 175 unframed sets of historic Sturgess prints are available for purchase.

The prints are available in two sizes and are delivered unframed:

Barretstown is Ireland’s largest provider of therapeutic camps and programmes for children with cancer and other serious illnesses. All the children and their families enjoy free accommodation, food and 24 hour medical assistance thanks to fund raising and donations.  Barretstown is located a stones throw from the back straight of Punchestown racecourse.
Tiglin provides services for those who have experienced homelessness, addiction, and social exclusion. Through social and after care, rehabilitation, housing, educational, up-skilling and frontline services, Tiglin has assisted hundreds of people and their families because they believe in investing in each individuals potential. Through initiatives like the Lighthouse Cafe, Tiglin have served over 100,000 hot meals to those in need. Tiglin founder, Senator Aubrey McCarthy, is a Punchestown native, born and raised only metres from the front gate of the racecourse.

By purchasing these collector prints, you are not only preserving a piece of racing heritage but also making a meaningful contribution to two organisations that transform lives.
