Ladbrokes Commitment to Irish Racing Is Good As Gold
Presenting the 2020 Punchestown Gold Cup
One of the highlights of the Irish jump racing calendar will take place under a new banner for 2020 as the Ladbrokes Punchestown Gold Cup sponsorship announcement was made today, Tuesday 26th November 2019.
This year the €300,000 centre piece of the five day Punchestown Festival was the host of memorable scenes as one of Ireland’s finest sportsmen Ruby Walsh bowed out following a final victory aboard Kemboy. Today’s announcement establishes the Ladbrokes Punchestown Gold Cup as the flagship sponsorship in an impressive portfolio including the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury, the Ladbrokes Christmas Festival at Kempton and sponsorships at both the Dublin and Punchestown Festivals.
Ladbrokes, who have been title sponsors on Punchestown Festival Thursday for many years with the Ladbrokes Champion Stayers Hurdle, will now also take centre stage on the second day of the event as they further enhance their commitment to Irish racing. In addition to the Ladbrokes on-track betting shop at Punchestown, the leading bookmakers have a further 100 shops throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland. The Ladbrokes commitment to the race secures the impressive €300,000 prize fund that has increased by 33% since 2014.
Simon Clare, PR at Coral, reflected on the out-going sponsor and looked forward to further enhancing the Ladbrokes brand at Punchestown “Coral is incredibly proud of its association with the Punchestown Gold Cup over the last few years and we are very honoured that Coral was a part of such an amazing moment in racing history when Ruby retired in his own inimitable style following his win on Kemboy this year. However Ladbrokes taking over the sponsorship of Punchestown Gold Cup, allows us to create a top class double header at the home of Irish racing which reinforces Ladbrokes serious commitment to the Irish digital and retail betting market. We are proud to support horse racing and this is reflected in our high profile sponsorships throughout the year throughout Ireland and the UK”
Sponsorship Manager at Punchestown Janet Creighton commented “We have a great working relationship with the Ladbrokes team and are delighted to see them further enhance their involvement at Punchestown. The Ladbrokes Punchestown Gold Cup shares flagship status for both parties. It is our key race and has produced some amazing champions and stories over the years but we are delighted that the Ladbrokes team regard it with the same level of prestige. Many thanks to Coral who have been a pleasure to work with through the last three years”.
The Ladbrokes Punchestown Gold Cup has a star studded list of previous winners including Cheltenham heroes Kicking King, War of Attrition, Don Cossack and most recently Sizing John. The 2020 Ladbrokes Punchestown Gold Cup will take place on day two of the Punchestown Festival, Wednesday 29th April.
