Healthy Corporate Appetite for Punchestown Hospitality As Venues Sell Out
Over 17,000 hospitality clients will savour one of Ireland’s most popular sporting and social events at Punchestown Racecourse next month as the appetite for corporate entertainment continues to increase.
A vast majority of the eight restaurant and pavilion venues and all but three of the private suites at the Kildare track are now sold out for the five day festival, which runs from Tuesday 24th to Saturday 28th April.
Perhaps one of the most encouraging statistics is that of the 725 companies that will host guests at the event, some 151 of those have been booked by UK based clients. This is an increase from 134 bookings during the 2016 Punchestown Festival.
The brand new 160 diner Corinthian Restaurant is the flagship setting of the new €4 million Hunt Stand which will be launched on the opening day of this year’s event. Sold out since December 2017, The Corinthian has appealed to customers because of the incredible views over the final furlong of the famous Kildare racecourse. This new addition is the centre piece of a significant capital development investment programme in association with Horse Racing Ireland.
La Touche Restaurant is the emerging star in the Punchestown portfolio having been the success story of last year’s event from a hospitality point of view. Erica Elliott, Head of Hospitality at Punchestown, explained how this venue has already exceeded expectations: “Like any new venture we felt that La Touche would take a couple of years to bed in and establish itself but that has not been the case at all. The food, décor and venue was so well received last year that the bookings for this year have exceeded all expectations . It’s already booked out on three days which we really hadn’t anticipated and now we are trying to accommodate clients in alternative venues or on different days”
Hargaden continued to elaborate on the overall hospitality market ahead of the Festival; “What is most encouraging is the mix of returning customers and the new business that has emerged as a result of recommendations. No amount of marketing spend will match the power of a personal endorsement. The restructure of our catering partners and the refurbishment of facilities was a fruitful exercise. We anticipate that all venues will be sold out within the coming days”.
