Epic Clash Predicted As Both Un De Sceaux and Douvan Declared for BoyleSports Champion Chase at Punchestown

The opening day of the 2018 Punchestown Festival on Tuesday 24th April will play host to a long awaited clash between Un De Sceaux and Douvan in the BoyleSports Champion Chase.

This will be the first time the stablemates have met on the track where they will be joined by eight other top quality contenders. Douvan looked to be back to his brilliant best at Cheltenham before falling four fences from home in the Queen Mother Champion Chase. Un De Sceaux returned to winning ways at the Fairyhouse Easter Festival having finished runner up at Cheltenham.

Willie Mullins has also declared Min and Ballycasey in the €275,000 Grade 1 contest which could provide the champion trainer with an ideal launch pad for his comeback battle in the title race. Gordon Elliott has declared A Toi Phil, The Game Changer, Tell Us More and Doctor Phoenix in the opening day feature.

Henry de Bromhead sends 2017 Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Special Tiara and Gigginstown Stud's Ordinary World.

The going at the home of Irish jump racing is currently yielding following 4mm of rain overnight.
