9 Marathons in 10 days- Olivia May Smith
Olivia Smith will be starting her challenge on Monday 17th April in Bristol, England and finishing on Thursday 27th April in Punchestown racecourse arriving into the parade ring at 2.30pm. Raising funds for The Injured Jockeys UK and Irish Injured Jockeys.
Having run 3 London Marathons in recent years, Olivia really wanted to do something more challenging this time around. In 2012 she ran her first marathon raising money for The JT McNamara Fund, in addition to her run Olivia’s father cycled from Cheltenham Racecourse, England to Killarney Racecourse, Ireland. She ran her second marathon in 2014, alongside her sister Emily, raising money for Racing Welfare. Olivia’s third marathon was in 2016, raising money this time for Racing Welfare, The Injured Jockeys Fund & Irish Injured Jockeys.
The third marathon was the inspiration behind this year’s challenge.
‘’ As many of you will know, I have been involved in the horse racing industry for a long time, and having seen the recent falls of jockeys during the races over the years and the unfortunate injuries that they can sustain in a sport that each and every one is hugely passionate about I wanted to raise even more money for my chosen charities.
I hope you all support me in this hugely mental & physical challenge. If you are able to join me along the way and run alongside me for any amount of time, that will be such an amazing motivation!
Most importantly, if you are able to donate any amount to help me reach my target, I can assure you that you will be encouraging me to get to that finish line on April 27th. Knowing I have the support behind me, will be just the push I need when the going gets tough - and it will’’
