Punchestown News: Day One sees an amazing launch at Punchestown

Day One sees an amazing launch to the festival with the opening of the The Hunt Stand, Bollinger Best Dressed Lady competition and Willie Mullins taking the feature race in great style!

2017 – 19,686

Down just 504 on last year despite a wet start to the day

Forecast is to remain cold with light showers over the coming days

The Hunt Stand launched by Minister Michael Creed today, speaking of the opening day General Manager Dick O'Sullivan commented "We are thrilled with the attendance today despite the rain arriving at a crucial time thank God they came and a great day was enjoyed by all. We are so proud to launch The Hunt stand today and to have Minister Creed here to do the honours was terrific. The reaction to the new facilities and improvements at Punchestown has been very positive and rewarding for the entire team here and we look forward to racing again tomorrow when the first goes to post at 3.40pm."

The feature race of the day The Boylesports Champion Chase was won by Un De Sceaux trained by Willie Mullins and ridden by Patrick Mullins.
